Hospital turns back man in distress after suicide attempt

A hospital in Belgaum district in Karnataka has refused to treat a man in distress after he tried to commit suicide, his family has said.

Belgaum (Karnataka): In a heart-wrenching story, a hospital in Belgaum district refused to treat a man who tried to commit suicide on Sunday.

Duradundi Gaurav, a resident of Nidasosi village in Belgaum district of Karnataka attempt suicide by consuming poison in his home.

He was taken to the Sankeshwar Community Health Center by family members where the doctors had told him to go to BIMS Hospital which treats the COVID patients.

Later, the family took him to the KLE Hospital where the hospital staff has asked them to pay 30,000 rupees before admitting the patient.

Due to the lack of money, the patient is now lying on the bench outside the hospital and is taking saline.
