Bengaluru: A hoax bomb threat aimed at threatening Commissioner and a judge triggered panic at city's civil court on Monday, prompting authorities to vacate the place, police said.

An anonymous letter was received stating that a bomb has been planted in the civil court. The letter came to the city civil court hall number 36 at around 5 pm in the evening.

The judge informed Ulsoor Gate police as he was worried that the letter contained wires. As soon as the police received information, the police and bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot and carried out the operation.

"Lawyers and judges were moved out and the entire court and premises was checked thoroughly. However, no bomb was found," a police official said.

"An inquiry is underway. The complaint is being verified and police officials are trying to identify the location of the person who sent the message," the official said.

The other two anonymous letters were sent to Police Commissioner Kamal Pant and CCB Joint Commissioner Sandeep Patil.
