Shimla: As the nation has entered a 21-day lockdown with strict restrictions from 24th March midnight, daily-wage earners and their businesses have been left with no income.

Horse riders from Shimla, whose prime source of income is horse-riding, are left at risk.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered a nationwide lockdown across the country to contain the spread of Coronavirus, the lives of daily wage earners have come to a halt.

This Corona-downturn has impacted the livelihoods of thousands of people who were earning and eating daily.

A horse trainer said, "We all have adjusted two days, but now we have nothing to eat. We earn on a daily basis. Our work has been stopped. We are running out of money."

Another one told, "No government officials have come to us. The CHO Madam just came and has assured us to arrange the food within two days. Except that, we got help from nowhere."

The horse riding has been stopped from 22nd March, since then the horse trainers are unable to arrange food for themselves and their horses.

Meanwhile, the State governments are ensuring all the required measures for them, but somehow no help has been provided so far.

PM Narendra Modi was contrite in his monthly radio address on Sunday, where he apologised, especially to the poor, for the tough decision to impose a lockdown: "I understand your troubles but there was no other way to wage a war against Corona for a country like India with a population of 1.3 billion."

The lockdown will be in effect till 14th April.
