The Lok Sabha has passed the demand for grants by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for the year 2019-20. The Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari also stated that several innovative investment models are being worked out to attract funds for the sector.

New Delhi:In a major boost for transport infrastructure projects, the lower house of the parliament has approved the demands for grants of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways by voice vote on Tuesday.

The budget allocation for the Road Transport & Highway ministry has been increased by Rs 5000 crore this fiscal year.

Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari also assured the lower house that under PM Modi's leadership, he will continue to give a thrust to building world-class infrastructure in the country.

Stating the achievements of his ministry, he claimed that 40,000 km out of 57,000 km awarded road infrastructure work has been completed in the last five years.

The Union Minister also stated that several innovative investment models are being worked out to attract funds for the sector.

Besides, Gadkari also called upon all members to lend support to Motor Vehicles Bill 2019 in which stringent laws have been proposed for ensuring safety on roads.
