Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected to occur in MP: IMD

The Indian Meterological Department on Wednesday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in many districts of the state including Indore, Dhar, Khandwa, Khargone, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Barwani, and Burhanpur.A team of officials are closely monitoring the rising water level in the river round the clock and is ready to deal with any emergency situation.

Hoshangabad (MP):The Madhya Pradesh government has issued a high alert, as Narmada river is flowing a foot above the danger mark due to heavy rains in Hoshangabad district on Tuesday.

Moreover, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in many districts of the state including Indore, Dhar, Khandwa, Khargone, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Barwani, and Burhanpur.

A team of officials are closely monitoring the rising water levels in the river, round the clock, and is ready to deal with any emergency situation.

According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) sources, villages under Seoni Malwa in Hoshangabad might face the threat of inundation as the water levels in the Narmada kept rising. Following this, the officials have deployed a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to carry out relief and rescue operations.

Meanwhile, people in the submerged and low-lying areas are being shifted to safer places.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ravi Shankar Rai and Tehsildar Dinesh Savale inspected vulnerable points of the Narmada river has directed officials to strengthen the river banks in the wake of inclement weather.

According to Salve, coastal areas along the river are being closely monitored as there is a high probability of floods. Therefore, orders have also been issued for them to go to safer places.
