Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru on Wednesday as the city continued to witness heavy rains leaving many roads waterlogged throughout Tuesday night. BBMP control room officials said they attended to complaints from Sivananda Circle, Mehkri Circle, Kengeri, Agara, Halasuru, Nayandahalli, and Agara among other areas.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) reported 124.5 mm rainfall in Kengeri, 123.5 mm in RR Nagar, 115 mm in Lakkasandra and 101mm Gottikere. Vidyapith in the southern region witnessed 99 mm of rainfall.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) control rooms received complaints regarding fallen trees in Malleshwaram, J.P. Nagar and Hosakerehalli. They also dealt with complaints regarding waterlogging from low lying areas in Kengeri, Rajarajeshwarinagar and Gottigere. Sidheshwar and Soudarya layouts were waterlogged and BBMP using a pump to remove water. The compound wall in the Gurudatta layout has collapsed and will probably be repaired by the end of the day. Also, the RR Nagar's Meenakshi welfare pavilion and BEML layout are flooded with water and sludge. BBMP staff are working on removing the water.
