Guru Nanak Dev's teachings still relevant: NCM

National Commission for Minorities (NCM) celebrated 550th 'Prakash Parv' of Guru Nanak Dev in Delhi. Chairman, NCM, Syed Ghayorul Hasan Rizvi said instructions of Guru Nanak Dev are still relevant.

New Delhi: The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) celebrated the 550th 'Prakash Parv' (birth anniversary) of Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh Guru with religious fervour.

Speaking on the occasion, Syed Ghayorul Hasan Rizvi, chairperson, NCM, said advice of Guru Nanak Dev is still relevant as he underlined the fact that God is one and may have many names.

Ranjit Singh, the chief priest of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, said that the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev is being celebrated across the world and it gives immense pleasure to all concerned.

"I have requested the government to mark a day for every religion as no religion asks its followers to fight with others," he said.

India and Pakistan opened Kartarpur corridor that links Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev, to Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Punjab's Gurdaspur on Saturday last.
