Gujarat wedding: Groom adorns pro-CAA mehndi, cow invited as 'special guest'

A couple in Gujarat's Surat tied the knot while asserting their support for the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act. The groom had mehndi - a form of Indian body art - drawn on his hand which read 'Rohit Asha Support CAA'.

Surat (Gujarat):At a time when the country is witnessing widespread protests against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), a couple in Gujarat's Surat tied the knot while asserting their support for the legislation.

The groom had mehndi - a form of Indian body art - drawn on his hand which read 'Rohit Asha Support CAA'.

"I support CAA, but certain anti-national elements in the country are trying to spread rumours against the Act by terming it anti-minority. This is a humble attempt to spread awareness on CAA," said Rohit Gadodia, who was getting married to Abhilasha.

Apart from taking a stand on a socio-political issue on their wedding day, the couple also decided to have a cow and her calf as special guests on their special day.

"We have decided to have a cow and a calf as special guests on my wedding day...and I wanted the wedding procession to be lead by a cow, " said Gadodia.

Rohit his pursuing his Ph.D. in Business Administration, while Abhilasha is a Charted Accountant.
