Narsighpur (Madhya Pradesh):The term 'government school' often makes one conjure up images of worn-out school buildings, poor quality education and non-existent infrastructure.
However, a government school in Madhya Pradesh has shunned all of the 'government school' stereotypes with its digital education and high-tech facilities.
Narsinghpur govt school teacher turns his school ‘smart’ This digital school set up in Semariya - a remote rural area of Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh - is wholly equipped with CCTVs, projectors, and LCD, thereby providing smart education to the students, and the man behind it is Narayan Gupta, who has spent years to make his class “smart”.
"The school provides equal opportunity to both boys and girls and we focus on helping the students become self-employed, " said Gupta.
Elaborating on the security measures taken by the school to ensure safety of its students, Gupta said, "the whole school premises and all the classrooms are kept under the surveillance of CCTV cameras."
Apart from being digitally equipped, the co-education public school has a separate centre for vocational training courses on medicine, information technology, as well as physical exercise for both girls and boys.
The institution was set up with an NCC battalion corps, a gym and arrangements for special sports which led to the selection of nine students from the same school into the Indian army.
Gupta, who was himself a student of the same school, transformed it from a single-storey structure with the thatched roof into a two-storey concrete building. He educated locals on the importance of digitalisation and raised money by crowdfunding.
