New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday assured Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal of providing all support to solve the Assam-Mizoram border row amicably.
Shah gave this assurance to Sonowal after the later briefed the situation that was followed by a violent clash between the people of both the states along the border areas.
Sources in the Home Ministry told ETV Bharat that Shah has asked the top officials in his ministry to promptly look into the matter.
In fact, Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla had a video conferencing with chief secretaries of Assam and Mizoram and took stock of the prevailing situation.
Bhalla, according to the sources, asked both of them to take maximum precautions to maintain law and order in the area and defuse any further clash.
"I had a fruitful discussion regarding the situation at Assam-Mizoram border with Home Minister Amit Shah. He assured all support to solve the matter amicably," said Sonowal after his discussion with Shah.
On Sunday, Sonowal briefed both Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and Home Ministry Office (HMO) over the situation that broke out following the clash.
It may be mentioned here that at least 10 people were injured and several huts were set ablaze on the Assam-Mizoram border on Saturday night.
