New Delhi:With the new tough visa restrictions, a number of international students who initially used to opt for the United States for their foreign education degrees are looking for avenues elsewhere.
ETV Bharat spoke to the German Embassy's Deputy head of Mission Dr Jasper Wieck who believed that the German approach to education was much different from many of the other countries.
"The Indo German relation has a very long tradition and yes I agree with fewer students going to the US, it does open new avenues for Germany but our approach is different as we don't consider education as a market."
Explaining further on the "German idea of education", Dr Wieck said, "In Germany, our philosophy is completely different from the countries who consider education as a market. We believe that public authority should provide education and the right infrastructure to all students and we believe it is not only for German students but also for international ones. Indian students are very bright and I want more Indian students to come to Germany for education. We have succeeded in bringing more students over to Germany and the number has doubled over the last 5 years".
