Gang robs driver, flees with truck in TN

The Vikravandi police officials are on the lookout for a three-member gang which assaulted the lorry driver and hijacked the lorry at Tamil Nadu's Viluppuram district on Tuesday. Based on the complaint by the driver, police officials have launched a manhunt for the gang.

Puducherry: The truck driver, ferrying hydraulic machines from Mumbai to Puducherry, was attacked and robbed by unidentified persons near Vikravandi in Tamil Nadu, on early hours of Tuesday.

The driver, identified by the police as Sanjeev Kumar, had stopped the truck near Vikravandi town of Viluppuram district around 3 am and was sleeping in the vehicle.

A gang of unidentified men clambered on the truck which was carrying machine, attacked the driver, pushed him off of the lorry and fled.

Vikravandi police registered a complaint against the accused and are in search of the gang.

Sanjeev Kumar is being administered first aid at Villupuram Mundiyampakkam government hospital.

The police during the investigation found that the lorry's current location is in Puducherry near PS Palayam Police limits.

"A case has been registered and further investigation is on," said a police officer.
