Mansa (Punjab):Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there is a lockdown in the entire country, but the Government of India is providing free gas facilities to the people.
Under the Ujjwala scheme, gas cylinders are being supplied to poor people in their homes. Home delivery in villages of Mansa district in Punjab has been continued amid the lockdown.
When ETV Bharat interacted with the villagers of Mansa district, they told that the Central government has transferred money to their accounts.
Apart from this, the government is also giving gas cylinders free for 3 months, they added.
Arun Kumar, the owner of the gas agency, said that they have Ujjwala beneficiary families under the scheme of about Rs 5,000 and the central government has given money from their accounts.
"I'm having the village wise list of all those families. After filling up the forms, we do home delivery to those homes who have their names in the respective forms" he said.
District Food Supply Officer Madhu said, "Ujjwala beneficiary families will be given free gas for three months. All the forms are available with the gas agency owners and the forms are being filled with families. Also, they are being given home delivery at home."
