Former SP MP Dharmendra Yadav tests positive for corona

Former MP and Samajwadi Party leader Dharmendra Yadav has tested positive for coronavirus and is undergoing treatment at Sefai Medical College.

Etawah:Former Lok Sabha MP and leader of Samajwadi Party Dharmendra Yadav on Sunday Yadav tested positive for Corona virus. He has been admitted to the Sefai Medical College after the report found him positive for the virus on Saturday night.

According to a government spokesman, Yadav was suffering from fever when he got the corona test done. Health officials said contact tracing would be done to ascertain the people who came into contact with the former MP.

Cousin of BSP leader Akhilesh Yadav, Dharmendra underwent corona test at KGMU in Lucknow on June 11 after his health detoriated. As per the sources, corona results of his personal aide were found negative and all his contacts are being tested now.

The leader started his political career from the student wing of Samajwadi Party. In 2009, he won Badaun seat in the Lok Sabha polls and was re-elected as MP i2014. However in 2019, he lost to BJP's Sanghamitra Maurya after serving as Badaun member for 10 years.

At present, Uttar Pradesh has 4858 total active COVID-19 cases and the death toll is pegged at 385. A total of 7875 patients have been cured and discharged and the total state's tally stands at 13118.(With inputs from IANS)
