An evergreen tribute for singer SPB

Perur Chettipalayam village in Tamil Nadu and Siruthuli Organization have planted 74 tree saplings symbolising the late singer SP Balasubrahmanyam's age. SPB who died of Covid had blamed abuse of the environment for the pandemic.

Coimbatore:Be it sorrow or joy, music makes us relaxed. In that sense, S P Balasubrahmanyam has a sacred position in people's heart. Mostly, SPB's songs attune to the beauty of nature. Remarkably, he had said that COVID-19 is the price which we pay for abusing the earth while taking part in his last show.

He also asked music lovers to engage themselves in the activities conserving the environment and stop the practises that harm Mother Nature.

Trees which would swing with SPB's music

In respect and adoration for the playback singer, Siruthuli Organization, in collaboration with Perur Chettipalayam village panchayat, has set up a forest for SPB at Pachapalayam in Officers’ Colony premises in Coimbatore. 74 tree saplings were planted to commemorate his 74 years of life.

Interestingly, tree species used to make musical instruments are planted. The trees are planted in the shape of the musical note. In addition, tree symbolic of his birth star Ayilyam is also planted.

Vanitha Mohan, Managing Trustee of Siruthuli Organization said that this will be a true tribute to the best musician. She also said that three fourth of the forest is made up of woods like bamboo, teak which are used to make musical instruments. The people of Perur, Chettipalayam expressed happiness in setting up the forest in their area and they were grateful to those who worked behind the green tribute.

Even if his body disappears, it will blossom as music

Vanitha Mohan further stated that in the panchayat area, Perur Chettipalayam Panchayat and Officers’ Colony Association have jointly created the green tribute in 1.8 acres with various facilities including childrens’ park and a library.

People said that it is a matter of pride for them since the forest set up for SPB will find a place in the hearts of crores of SPB fans.
