Voting underway in Bodo Territorial Council polls

There are 132 candidates in the fray for the 21 constituencies in the first phase of the election. A total of 13,64,018 electorate are expected to cast their votes.

Udalguri: Election for the first phase of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) polls started on Monday peacefully with no disruptions reported. Voter turnout recorded till 10 am across 21 constituencies in both Udalguri and Baksa is 25%.

A total of 21 constituencies - 10 constituencies in Udalguri district and 11 constituencies in Baksa district will witness the first phase of the election while the polls in 19 constituencies in Kokrajhar and Chirang district is scheduled on December 10.

The counting of votes will take place on December 12.

The polling started around 7 am today and long queues of voters were seen in front of most of the polling centres.
