Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh ):IIT Kanpur is ready to venture into the field of technology in medicine for finding treatments to various diseases.
IIT Kanpur will have a course specialising in Medicine engineering. The aim of this course is to provide technical and engineering assistance to medical practitioners to understand diseases and help in their faster treatment.
IIT Kanpur to have India’s first Medical-Engineering centre On the 60thfoundation day of IIT, the foundation stone of this centre for Engineering in Medicine was laid. At this centre, research related to medical equipment, medical engineering and related topics would be conducted.
Prof.Abhay Karandikar, Director IIT Kanpur said that “with the start of this centre at IIT Kanpur, research work in the field of Medicine will start here. This will help in finding new treatment techniques for the treatment of various serious diseases. After this, we will progress to super-speciality and Medical College also.”
The work on the centre started with the foundation laying and Bhoomi pooja ceremony on Saturday.
The funds for the centre has been provided by the Mehta Family Foundation.
