An FIR has been filed against Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi alleging that the tweet done by the Congress party on PMCARES fund is spreading misinformation. Complaint has been filed by advocate Praveen KV.

New Delhi:An FIR has been registered against Congress President Sonia Gandhi in Shivamogga area of Karnataka, alleging that "misinformation" being spread by a tweet of her party regarding PM-CARES Fund.
 

The FIR identifies Sonia Gandhi as the handler of that social media account and has been registered by Advocate Praveen KV. Besides her, the FIR has also been registered against other Congress leaders as well.

The complainant has alleged that Congress party had posted a 'false and 'baseless' information, on May 11, regarding PM-CARES Fund on its Twitter handle. A case has been filed under IPC Sections 153 and 505 against the Congress President and other party leaders.

He also said that the Congress party mentioned in its tweet that the donation will not be used for public service but will be spent for the foreign trips of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

The PM-CARES trust was formed on March 27, 2020, to receive public donations to fight against Coronavirus pandemic. This trust has been led by PM Modi, while Defense Minister, Home Minister and Finance Minister are the members of this trust. 


Meanwhile, Congress Chief earlier had asked PM to transfer all the funds received under PM-CARES to Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
