'Feeling betrayed by Congress', Kalita likely to join BJP

In yet another setback for Congress, senior politician from Assam Bhubaneswar Kalita may join BJP. Kalita who has recently resigned from the party opposing Congress's stand over Article 370 has given a clear hint that he may join BJP.

New Delhi: Days after resigning from Congress, senior politician from Assam Bhubaneswar Kalita is all set to play his new innings in BJP.

Feeling betrayed by Congress, Kalita who has recently resigned from the party opposing Congress's stand over Article 370 on Friday has given a clear hint that he may join BJP.

Speakingexclusively to ETV BharatKalita said,"I am with those (BJP) who were against Article 370. I work with an ideology and I will join the party with the same ideology." He said that he is feeling betrayed by Congress, a party for which he contributed a lot.

"I joined Congress when the party was fighting to ensure its stability not only in Assam but also in Delhi. And now the same Congress party leaders are criticising me, it hurts but yes, if by criticising me they feel themselves happy, let them be happy," said Kalita.

Kalita joined Congress in 1984 and since then he was an active member of the party. He was once a minister in Assam during Congress regime. He served both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha representing Congress. Read:Samjhauta Express arrives in Delhi after Pakistan announces suspension
