Facebook, Instagram down worldwide

Social media sites Facebook and Instagram were down for users around the world for several hours on Wednesday. In a tweet, Facebook confirmed that some of its users were facing trouble in accessing the portal.

New Delhi: Facebook and Instagram on Wednesday suffered a major global outage as people using these social media networks were unable to access it on their phones or desktop.

It has also been reported that Fcebook's messenger which is a messaging application and platform was also down. The Facebook-owned photo app Instagram was also down.

In a tweet, Facebook confirmed that some of its users were facing trouble in accessing the portal.

Meanwhile, UNESCO jumped into the fray with a tweet of its own urging users to read a book instead!
