New Delhi:Hours after candidature of BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga from Hari Nagar constituency was announced, #Bagga4HariNagar began to trend on Twitter.
With more than 25,000 tweets (at 11:42 am), #Bagga4HariNagar was the top trend on the microblogging site in India which explains Bagga's ability to use social media in his favor. From retweeting party heavyweights to selling merchandise which tow the BJP's line, Bagga has emerged as the party's front-running social media warrior over the last few years.
Branded as a "troll" by some, and at times trolled by those with opposing views, Bagga seems to have toned down over time, more so after being appointed as Delhi BJP's spokesperson.
BJP has fielded Bagga against Aam Aadmi Party's Princess Dhillon and Congress' Surender Sethi.
An avid Twitter user, the 34-year-old expresses opinions on a wide range of issues and also contests those who challenge his party's line of thought with each post garnering massive engagement. His Twitter timeline was flooded with wishes from supporters soon after he was announced as a candidate.
He also released a rap song which says 'Bagga, Bagga Har Jagah' and thanked everyone.
On January 17, days before the announcement, when a Twitter user asked: "I want to campaign for you. From where did you get the ticket?"
