Doctor assaulted over death of COVID-19 patient

A junior doctor was hit with a chappal allegedly by the kin of a COVID-19 patient who died due to severe respiratory problems. Soon after the incident, medical staff gathered demanding justice and stringent action against the attackers.

Belgaum (Karnataka): Medical fraternity at BIMS Hospital was agitated after family members of COVID-19 patient who died, allegedly assaulted a junior doctor blaming him for the death.

The Junior doctor was hit with chappal last night after a 39-year-old woman from Chikkodi died late night due to severe respiratory problems.

The medical superintendent Dr Girish Dandagi arrived on-site and condemned the assault.

More than 15 relatives of the dead woman came to the hospital and created a ruckus inside the hospital premises. Soon after the incident, medical staff gathered demanding justice and stringent action against the attackers.
