'Distance from animals is necessary or else the risk of corona infection may increase'

Dr Savita, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Himachal, has advised people to stay away from the animals as much as possible in the time of coronavirus. She raised concern about the animals after the news of a tigress getting infected by the virus in a New York Zoo surfaced.

Shimla (HP):The whole world is struggling to contain the spread of coronavirus. Many countries have been put under lockdown. In such a situation, people are worried about feeding stray dogs, monkeys or other animals, but according to Dr Savita, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Himachal, has advised people to stay away from animals as much as possible these days.

Dr Savita expresses concern about the tigress in New York Zoo who was tested positive, saying that the coronavirus is new to the world, we don't have the proper knowledge and also there is no cure.

At present, there is no denial of the fact that the virus is spreading from humans to animals, so it is advised to stay away from animals as much as possible.

Necessary guidelines have been issued to zoos and national parks in India after the New York case surfaced.

Dr Savita says that people engaged in the care of animals in zoos will also have to take full care.

Actually, the campaign to feed stray dogs after the lockdown has been doing rounds on social media, many people have come out in support of it.

Dr Savita says that it feels good to see that many people are coming out to feed the stray dogs. But, it is important to maintain a distance with them, because if the corona infection spreads between humans to animals, then the situation will become even more frightening.
