New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Maldives on June 8, his first foreign visit post re-election.
Diplomatic outreach: PM Modi to address Maldives Parliament Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih extended the invitation and the parliament also passed a resolution which allows PM Modi to address the 'People's Majlis.'
The India-Maldives relationship had gone through a rough patch during the tenure of former President Abdullah Yameen.
Yameen's pro-China policy had become a matter of contention between both countries. Since President Solih was voted to power last year, the relationship between India and Maldives has improved substantially.
The Prime Minister is also likely to visit Sri Lanka after his Maldivian visit.
