Digvijaya Singh reaches crime branch to lodge FIR against Chouhan

Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh along with his associates reached crime branch to file a complaint against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for tweeting an alleged "fake" video against Rahul Gandhi.

Bhopal: A day after an FIR was registered against former chief minister Digvijay Singh for circulating an alleged "edited" video of current Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on social networking site Twitter, he along with his associates reached crime branch and filed a complaint against Shivraj Singh Chouhan for tweeting an alleged "fake" video against Rahul Gandhi and also demanded an FIR.

Singh said that on the complaint of the Bharatiya Janata Party, an FIR was registered against 12 people including me and it was publicized.

"I want that as the case was registered on the complaint of BJP, in the same way FIR on behalf of me and the State Congress Committee should be registered against them," Singh said.

It should be recorded and we need a copy of it, he further added.

Singh also alleged that after the complaint by BJP, Congress workers are constantly being harassed throughout the state. H,e also demanded that the origin of the video and that who edited should be probed.

Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh Police registered an FIR against Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh and 11 others in a case of circulation of an alleged "edited" video of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's old statement on the liquor policy of the previous Kamal Nath government.

In the video, Chouhan is purportedly seen commenting on the liquor policy of the previous Kamal Nath government.

The original 2.19-minute video was edited and a nine second cropped part of it was shared on Twitter by Singh to malign the image of the chief minister, BJP leaders alleged.

Digvijaya and others were charged under Indian Penal Code Sections 500 (defamation), 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory), 505 (2) (public mischief) and 465 (forgery), an official said.
