Delhi violence was orchestrated with eye on US President's visit, Says G Kishan Reddy

Hours after massive protest led to violence and death of a police personnel in northeast Delhi, Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said that the violence was orchestrated with an eye on US President's visit to India and the home ministry will take strict action against those responsible for the violence in Delhi's Jafarabad area.

New Delhi: Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy on Monday said that those responsible for Monday's violence Delhi's Jafarabad area will be punished. He said that the home ministry will take strict action against those responsible for the violence.

Hours after massive protest led to violence and death of a police personnel in northeast Delhi's Jafarabad area, Reddy condemn the incident and said that government of India will never tolerate violence.

"The violence in North East Delhi was orchestrated with an eye on US President's visit to India. I condemn this incident. We will take strict actions against those responsible.

The MHA is monitoring the situation," said Reddy in Delhi. Reddy said that adequate security forces have been deployed in vulnerable areas where massive protest are taking place.

The ongoing anti Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) agitation in Jafarabad on Monday turned violent following stone pelting between two different groups. When police tried to control the situation firing took place that killed one police personnel.

Sources in MHA said that the ministry is in co stand touch with Delhi police. Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla who was monitiring the situation said that the situation has been brought under control.

Meanwhile, Section 144 CrPC has been imposed in 10 locations in the North East district of Delhi following the violence.
