Delhi: Venezuelan national arrested with drugs at IGI airport

A Venezuelan national has been arrested by the Customs Department with over 880 grams of drugs at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The passenger had consumed the drugs by putting it inside capsules. Police seized more than 80 drugs capsules of worth Rs 88 lakh.

New Delhi: Customs Department officials arrested a Venezuelan national with drugs at Indira Gandhi International Airport here on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, Delhi police detained the accused when he landed at the airport and searched his baggage. During the investigation, it was found that he had consumed drugs by putting it inside capsules.

After the court's order, the passenger was admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and more than 80 capsules filled with drugs were seized from his possession.

The quantity of the drugs seized has turned out to be over 880 grams of worth Rs 88 lakh.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), 1985.
