Delhi: Suspected J&K youth held by CRPF outside Parliament

CRPF officials nabbed suspicious Jammu and Kashmir youth outside the Parliament and seized different ids from him. Both his ids have different names and cops are investigating the matter.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested a Jammu and Kashmir youth from Delhi's Vijay Nagar Chowk over suspicion. Two Ids (Aadhar Card and Driving License) have been seized from his possession, both carrying different names.

According to the information, the suspicious youth was caught roaming around the Parliament House and was spotted by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. Doubting his activities, the CRPF officials alerted the city police, who later nabbed him. On being interrogated, the youth claimed to be a resident of Budgam district.

"Initially, the man was reluctant about giving information about himself and misled us. We have recovered a document from him which contains some information written in codewords. Two identity cards – one Aadhar card and a driving license - have been also been recovered from his possession," police officials said.

Giving further details, the officer said, "While the driving license is in the name of one Firdaus, the name mentioned in the Aadhaar Card is Manzoor Ahmed Ahanger. A bag has also been found from him and we are investigating the matter. The suspected youth kept changing his statements which increased our doubts."

"The youth said that he first visited Delhi in 2016. Contradicting his own statement, he said that he came to the city during the pandemic-triggered lockdown. He also gave different statements regarding his accommodation," said the cops.

The matter has been taken over by Delhi Police, who is questioning him at the Parliament House Police Station. Information about him is also being shared with various other agencies.
