Delhi riots remind of Gujarat Horror 2002, allege left parties

At a joint press meet, the general secretaries of CPI(M) and the CPI expressed anguish at the violence unfolding in the Capital city. CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and the general secretary of CPI, D Raja have lashed out at the Modi govt and held Union Home minister Amit Shah responsible for the inefficiency of the Delhi Police to control the violence.

New Delhi:Expressing their anguish on Delhi riots, the general secretaries of CPI(M) and the CPI have slammed Modi government and held Home minister Amit Shah responsible for inefficient action by Delhi Police to control the situation of violence.
CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and the general secretary of CPI, D Raja addressed a joint presser on Wednesday on the current situation in the national capital.

"It is clear for the last 3 days this sort of violence is continuing under the sanctions of the police and the authorities that control Delhi Police" alleged Sitaram Yechury.

"All this clearly reminds us of what happened in Gujarat in 2002. What is happening now is a very chilling replay of the communal genocide unleashed then in 2002 when our Prime Minister was the state's chief minister, the pattern is very clear" added Yechury.

Reiterating the claim of Yechury, CPI General Secretary also held the Modi and Amit Shah duo responsible for the current situation.

"The situation in Delhi reminds us of the horrors of 2002 Gujarat. People have already started speaking that the capital has become Gujarat-2. When Gujarat riots took place, Mr Modi was CM and Amit Shah was part of that government. Then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had to warn them that nobody should cross the line of Raj Dharma, now in Delhi, that line of Raj Dharma is being violated" said D Raja.

Both the left parties have jointly opined that the Delhi Police has failed to control the violence and demanded that the Army should be brought in to normalize the situation. They have also demanded that adequate compensation be paid to the families of all those who have lost their lives and also for those injured.

The left party leaders also appealed to the people of all sections to maintain calm and peace. The left parties have called for all the secular and peace loving forces to join hands and organize peace marches and relief and rehabilitation activities.
