Delhi: BSF soldier writes to top police brass, seeks protection for family

After the family members of a BSF official were brutally attacked by their neighbours, the army official wrote to the top police brass and sought protection for his family. The letter of the officer comes after no action was taken by the local police station.

Delhi:An Additional Skill Identifier(ASI) with the Border Security Force has written to the top Delhi police brass demanding strict action after his family members were brutally assaulted by their neighbours.

Suresh Kumar, who is posted in Kashmir's Baramulla, sought cops' help urging them to take immediate action against the accused.

The BSF official approached top officials after local police did not intervene to resolve the issue. In the letter, the army officer said that his family is facing threat from the neighbours and needs security.

"My kin were attacked with stones, bricks and weapons by their neighbours. They are not safe and need immediate security," the letter read.

"We lodged a complaint at a police station but no action has been taken till date. The entire incident was captured in a CCTV footage but still, no stern step has been taken by the cops to settle the dispute," the family claimed.

According to sources, the families were at loggerheads for the past several years. The two families got into an argument on July 5 which turned ugly and family members of the BSF were brutally attacked with stones, sticks by their neighbours.

They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Five relatives of the BSF soldier were injured during the attack.

Suresh's younger brother Mahendra, who was severely hurt, said, "It was my daughter's birthday and I was going to buy a present for her. All of a sudden, I was stopped by my neighbours and they started beating me. My wife and children came out for help after they heard me scream to help me but they were assaulted too."

The BSF soldier's family alleged that they repeatedly called the cops for help when being attacked but there was no response. However, cops registered a cross FIR later in connection with the incident.

Accusing the cops of not taking any strict action, Mahendra said, "I called the cops several times but my calls went unanswered. A complaint has been lodged but no action has been taken."

However, Fatehpur Beri police station team reached the hospital later to take stock of the situation and recorded the statements of the injured.
