New Delhi:A team of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) was reportedly attacked when they attempted to call off a wedding in Paschim Vihar on Thursday. The DCW team reached the marriage venue along with Delhi Police officials to stop the second marriage of a man.
According to reports, the DCW team received the information that the groom was tying a knot without divorcing his first wife and they rushed to the venue to stop it. The team was allegedly shoved by the groom and his father and even the vehicle of the officials was vandalised and window shield was broken. Reports also suggest that phones and bags of the women team were also snatched. However, the team was successful in calling off the marriage of a man who had abandoned his first wife.
However, the DCW team said that Delhi Police has neither filed a complaint in the matter nor have arrested the accused. DCW will issue a notice to Delhi Police as to why no action has been initiated in the case.
