CRPF Jawan, civilian killed in terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper and a five-year-old child were killed in a terror attack at Bijbehara town in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Friday.
According to reports, bike borne militants fired upon a road opening party of the CRPF 90 battalion near Padshahi Bagh bridge. The security forces cordoned off the area and search operation is underway.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, a CRFP official said that the incident happened around 12:15 in the morning and two people on a bike opened fire at a CRPF battalion.
The slain jawan was identified as Shymal Kumar. He was hit by a bullet in the head and the five-year-old as Nehan was critically injured. They were moved to the hospital where both of them succumbed to their injuries.
More reinforcements have been brought in. The operation is currently underway.
