New Delhi:The Communist Party of India - Marxist on Tuesday, once again, wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks on Sabarimala and accused Modi of aiming at communal polarisation.

In the letter addressed to CEC Sunil Arora, CPI (M) politburo member Nilotpal Basu wrote that Narendra Modi's statements in election rallies in Tamil Nadu's Theni and Bangalore on 13th April, were emphatic pointers to raising communal tension.

The CPI (M) accused that while addressing the rally in Tamil Nadu, PM Modi stated that 'the communists and the Muslim league were playing a dangerous game on Sabarimala to strike at the root of faith of Hindus' and he also said that as long as there is BJP nothing can be done to destroy "our faith".

The letter further added that, it was a clear example as to how Narendra Modi is not only violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) but also implicitly challenging the order of the election commission to refrain from using Sabarimala temple and Lord Ayyappa in the election campaign.

The letter also pointed at the Election Commission being rebuffed by the Supreme Court of India stating "Court had reminded the commission of adequate powers which need to be proactively exercised to ensure restraint on the polarising thirst of BJP campaign".

The letters further urged the Election Commission to take immediate and strict steps against PM Narendra Modi and BJP.
