CPI protests against US President's India tour

CPI General Secretary D Raja said that Donald Trump is imposing dominant and imperialistic policies all over the world. He further added that the American economy is in deep crisis and the American administration is looking for new markets, they consider India as the biggest market which can salvage the American economy.

New Delhi: The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Monday protested against US President Donald Trump's two-day visit to India.

CPI General Secretary D Raja said,"In the name of America first Trump is imposing hegemonic and imperialistic policies all over the world."

"The American economy is in deep crisis and the American administration is looking for new markets, they consider India as the biggest market which can salvage the American economy. But our economy is already in bad shape, our farmers are agitating. Now, there is huge apprehension in the minds of those who are in poultry, dairy, and other such farmings," he added.

He further said, "American imperialism has put sanctions against Iran, even India can not have independent trade with Iran and due to this we can not buy oil from Iran."

"That's why we are here to tell PM Modi that India cannot be taken for granted and India should perceive an independent foreign policy. India cannot succumb to the pressure given by Trump or his administration," CPI General Secretary added.

US President Donald Trump arrived in India on Monday for his highly-anticipated two-day trip. India and the US are looking at signing pacts in areas of intellectual property rights, defense deals, nuclear power cooperation, and homeland security.
