New Delhi: The national secretary of CPI has appealed all the people and their families and friends who attended the religious congregation (Tablighi Jamaat gatherings) to come forward and get themselves identified and tested after a spike was seen in the number of COVID-19 cases in various states which were all linked to the Jamaat gathering in Nizamudin area on March 13-15.

Around 8,000 people from across the country as well as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Saudi Arabia attended a gathering at Alami Markaz Banglewali Masjid, the headquarters of the Tablighi Jamaat in the Nizam-ud-din area of South Delhi. While many returned home, others stayed back at the mosque. The headquarters of the Jamaat, Banglewali Masjid was sealed after sometime.

The problem now is that most of the TJ members who attended the event have already spread out to their native places or to other places to preach. Veritably, this single event may turn the fight against the deadly virus to be steep, costly and of overwhelming odds for the government.
