COVID-19: Total cases in India mount to 21,700; 1,229 new cases reported in last 24 hours

India's COVID-19 tally stands at 21,700

With an increase of 1,229 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the total number of cases reached 21,700, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

The tally is inclusive of 16,689 active cases, 4,325 patients have been cured/discharged and migrated, while 686 patients who have died due to the deadly virus.

According to the ministry's data, Maharashtra is on the top of the list with most COVID-19 cases, 5,652 cases of which 789 patients have recovered and 269 patients succumbing to coronavirus.

Gujarat and Delhi are second and third on the list respectively with Gujarat having 2407 cases of which 179 patients have recovered and 103 deaths. Meanwhile, in Delhi, the tally stands at 2248 cases of which 724 patients have recovered and 49 patients have died from COVID-19.

Rajasthan's tally stands at 1,890 cases with 230 patients cured while 27 deaths have been reported as of Thursday.

Madhya Pradesh has 1695 cases of which 148 patients have recovered and 81 deaths reported. Tamil Nadu, on the other hand, stands with 1629 cases of which 662 patients have recovered and 18 have died due to the deadly virus.

Goa has seven cases reported of which all seven patients have recovered from the coronavirus.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on April 14, that the nationwide lockdown would be extended to May 3.

A COVID-19 patient from Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district recovered and tested negative for the virus, an official statement on Thursday said.

The second test result of the patient, a woman from Sisoli village here, returned negative and she was shifted from a hospital in Noida to her village, it said.

100 cases reported in Madhya Pradesh today

With 100 more persons testing positive for coronavirus in Madhya Pradesh, their count shot up to 1,687 on Thursday, while the death toll rose to 83 with the addition of three fatalities, health officials said.

Among the new cases reported till 3 pm on Thursday, Ujjain recorded the highest increase of 35 COVID-19 patients followed by Indore 22, Bhopal 20 and Khargone 10, among others, they said.

27 more cases reported in Telangana, total climbs to 970

Another 27 positive cases of corona virus were reported in the state told by Health Minister Etela Rajender. with this the total number corona cases has reached to 970. Out of 27 cases today, 13 cases were reported under GHMC, Hyderabad and 10 cases in Jogulamba Gadwal district. Health minister also stated that 58 people were discharged from various hospitals today.

The death cases were trolled in the state has reached to 25. out of 970 positive cases, 262 cases were discharged from hospitals across the state. Tests in the state have no trouble, said minister Etela.  We are taking stringent measures to control corona says Minister. He also said 9 labs were available in the state.

India's COVID-19 count rises to 21,393, death toll at 681

New Delhi:With 1,409 new cases and 41 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, India's total number of COVID-19 positive cases reached 21,393 on Thursday, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The total number of cases include 16,454 active cases and 681 deaths. As many as 4,257 people have been cured/discharged so far while one has migrated.

Maharashtra continues to remain the worst affected state with 5,652 COVID-19 positive cases so far. The state has reported 269 deaths, the highest fatality rate among the states.

Delhi and Gujarat are the next two worst-hit states with 2,248 and 2,407 COVID-19 positive cases.
