COVID-19 +ve woman gives birth to uninfected baby girl in TN

A pregnant woman from Tamil Nadu, who was diagnosed with COVID-19, gave birth to an uninfected, healthy baby girl at RSRM Government hospital on Tuesday. The woman contracted the infection form her husband who had visited a religious congregation in Delhi last month and tested positive for COVID-19 on March 30.

Chennai:A 42-year-old woman infected with coronavirus disease gave birth to an uninfected, healthy baby girl at RSRM Government hospital in Chennai on Tuesday. The baby girl weighed 2.8 kilograms at birth.

The woman contracted the infection form her husband who had visited a religious congregation in Delhi last month and tested positive for COVID-19 on March 30.

Following the man’s diagnosis, his wife and two children also tested positive for the disease and all three members of the family were admitted at Stanley hospital in Chennai for treatment.

Doctors took special care of the then pregnant woman and provided her with special health supplements to boost the immune system of both the mother and child.

This was the first case of a pregnant woman with COVID-19 infection giving birth to an uninfected baby in Tamil Nadu.
