Hyderabad:COVID-19 vaccine, Covaxin, being developed by Bharat Biotech is now undergoing phase-3 trials, Krishna Ella, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Biotech said on Monday.
Speaking virtually at a programme organised by the Indian School of Business, Ella said the company is also working on another vaccine for COVID-19 which would be in the form of nasal drops and can be ready by next year.
Covaxin is being developed by Bharat Biotech, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) - National Institute of Virology (NIV).
New Delhi:Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that Delhi will not be put under another lockdown amid the rise in the coronavirus cases in the national capital.
He further added that wearing of masks and following other Covid-19 protocols will be more beneficial.
He also said that the peak of Delhi's third wave is gone and cases will come down gradually.
The Health Minister further said that stern action will be taken against people who do not wear masks and do not follow social distancing norms in the national capital.
Meanwhile, Congress MP and former Union minister Manish Tewari tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.
Mumbai: Places of religious worship in Maharashtra, which were shut since the imposition of COVID-19 lockdown in March, reopened on Monday with devotees visiting some of the prominent temples and shrines in the state.
The Siddhivinayak temple’s chairman Aadesh Bandekar said only 1,000 devotees will be allowed inside the temple every day in staggered time slots to be booked through a mobile phone application.
Chandigarh:Haryana Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday and was admitted to a private hospital in Mohali in Punjab.
The 81-year-old Governor is currently admitted in the ICU, hospital sources said.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in a tweet wished Arya a speedy recovery.
Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has issued a notification prohibiting congregation and religious ceremony on the banks of rivers, ponds and other public water bodies for Chhath puja, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the guidelines issued by the State Disaster Management Committee, all precautions were being taken by the Government to ensure the safety of people amid the pandemic, and as part of the measures, no one would be allowed to organise any musical or cultural programme near the water bodies during the Chhath festival.
Thiruvananthapuram: Wearing masks and strictly adhering to COVID-19 protocols, devotees of Lord Ayyappa trekked the holy hill Sabarimala and offered prayers at the temple as the shrine opened for the annual two-month-long Mandala-Makaravilakku season on Monday.
It is the first annual pilgrimage season at the hill temple after the coronavirus outbreak.
Ahmedabad: A sudden spike in new COVID-19 cases during Diwali festivities has put a strain on hospitals in Gujarat which is witnessing a rise in patient occupancy, prompting the state government to announce the creation of more facilities to handle the situation, officials said.
Over 90 per cent beds in private hospitals are occupied, while government and municipal hospitals, too, are witnessing a surge in the arrival of new patients, they added.
