Hyderabad: With the second-highest caseload of the coronavirus disease globally, India continues to post the highest number of recoveries from the infection.
India accounts for 21% of all the recoveries reported worldwide, even as the country accounts for 18.6% of the global share of cases.
The United States accounts for the highest number of cases reported globally, accounting for 21.7% of all the cases, but accounts for 18.4% of the total global recoveries, according to data shared by the Union health ministry.
Delhi
New Delhi:Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Saturday said that the COVID-19 positivity rate in the national capital has decreased to 5.19 per cent.
"Out of 56,258 samples tested on Friday, 2,920 samples tested positive for COVID-19," Jain said.
Jain on Tuesday informed that the Delhi government has increased the number of COVID-19 beds by 1,000 in the national capital with 500 beds each in both private and government hospitals.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Prisons department has requested the city government to extend the emergency parole granted to convicts by one month in view of the existing COVID-19 situation.
Jharkhand
Ranchi: Jharkhand's minority welfare minister Haji Hussain Ansari died on Saturday at a hospital in Ranchi, official sources said. He was 73.
Ansari, a senior JMM leader, was admitted to the Medanta hospital around two weeks back after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
