Hyderabad: Due to the Covid-19 lockdown across India, this year's carbon emissions are predicted to fall by around eight per cent, informed, a senior environment ministry official. With 75,760 new cases, India's Covid-19 caseload rose to 33,10,234 and toll to 60,472, the health ministry said. While the government also said that with positivity rate progressively falling, testing has worked as an effective tool to limit the spread of Covid-19 infection.

Delhi

New Delhi: The number of COVID-19 containment zones in Delhi, which currently stand at 716, maybe increased owing to further relaxations under 'Unlock' and doubling of coronavirus tests, officials said on Thursday. The number of COVID-19 containment zones in Delhi has risen from 539 on August 1 to 716 on August 27.

Officials said the rise in the number of containment zones has also been congruent with the increase in cases in the national capital.

Maharashtra

Mumbai: The number of new infections of novel Coronavirus jumped to more than 75,000 on Wednesday, the highest that any country has ever recorded on a single day since the start of the outbreak. This was powered by the highest single-day rise in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Here are the top ten states with maximum caseload.

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa Thursday hinted that the metro services in Bengaluru will be restarted soon as “normalcy” returns to public life. Meanwhile, the Kolkata Metro has said it will restart services only on receiving the go-ahead from the Union Home Ministry and the Railway Ministry.

Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: Former MLC and Congress leader Chuni Lal, who tested positive for the coronavirus disease on August 24, breathed his last at the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Kathua in the early hours of Thursday. The 87-year-old leader was suffering from various ailments and was admitted to the hospital last week, the officials said.

BJP MP from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma, has tested positive for COVID-19. “I got myself tested on my own and my test report has come positive,” he tweeted, urging people who had been in contact with him during the past few days to get themselves to take precautions and get tested.

Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal:Forty inmates who arrived recently at the central jail in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh have been quarantined after they tested positive for coronavirus, an official said on Thursday. All of them were asymptomatic, said Gopal Tamrakar, Deputy Inspector General, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Central Jail. These prisoners had been admitted to the jail after August 15, he said. Their samples were taken for coronavirus testing and they were kept in isolation.

Odisha

Bhubaneswar:Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the sixth Plasma Bank at Saheed Laxman Naik (SLN) Medical College & Hospital in Koraput on Thursday. At least 7 more persons succumbed to deadly COVID-19 in Odisha, the state Health & Family Welfare (H & FW) department said.
