Meanwhile, Uttarakhand cabinet has passed an ordinance under which legislators of the state will deposit a part of their salary in the Chief Minister Relief Fund for prevention of COVID-19.

Hyderabad: India on Thursday recorded the highest-ever single-day recoveries of 56,383 patients.

The total number of recovered patients of COVID-19 touched nearly 17 lakh (16,95,982). The case fatality rate has further improved to 1.96 per cent, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data.

As on August 13, the total number of active cases stands at 6,53,622 with a one-day increase of 9,674.

The death toll for the viral disease has touched 47,033, with 942 deaths recorded on Thursday.

India is now ranked fourth in the world in terms of the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 behind the US, Brazil and Mexico.

Bihar

Patna: With 3,906 more cases on Thursday, the number of positive cases has reached 94,459 in the state whereas 62, 507 patients have been cured or discharged from the different hospitals in the state so far. The recovery rate in the state stands at 66.17 per cent.

Meanwhile, during the last 24 hours, 1,04,452 samples were tested, thus more than 13,77,000 lakh samples have been tested in the state so far.

Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: Two personnel in Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur’s security squad have tested positive for COVID-19.

One of them is the driver of the pilot vehicle in the CM’s motorcade, while the other is a gunman, officials said.

They were part of the security squad during the chief minister’s travel from Kangra to Jwalamukhi on August 7 and then moved to Una. Thakur’s Una tour was cancelled so both of them joined back duty in Shimla.

The chief minister was on a tour to Kangra from August 6 to 8.

The total tally of coronavirus cases in the state has climbed to 3,681 with 1,275 active cases and 2,362 recoveries.

Uttarakhand

Dehradun: Amid growing concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus, Uttarakhand cabinet has passed an ordinance under which legislators of the state will deposit a part of their salary in the Chief Minister Relief Fund for prevention of COVID-19.

Father of Bollywood singer Zubin Nautiyal and former District Panchayat President Ramsharan Nautiyal has tested positive for COVID-19. He has been admitted to the AIIMS in Rishikesh.

Meanwhile, former Uttarakhand health minister and senior Congress leader Tilak Raj Behar has also tested positive.

Jharkhand

Ranchi: Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni – who had earlier in the day had undergone a coronavirus test in Ranchi – has tested negative for coronavirus and is set to join the Chennai Super Kings training camp in Chennai on August 14 ahead of IPL 13 in UAE.

Earlier on Thursday, a team from a private hospital, Gurunanak Hospital and Research Centre collected samples from Dhoni’s farmhouse on Ranchi Ring Road.

Rajasthan

Jaipur: Amid rising cases of coronavirus in the state, as many as 17 news cases were reported including 3 policemen and 14 barbers in Bundi district on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the administration has declared zero mobility by spraying sanitizer in the areas.

As many as 608 new COVID-19 cases were reported from the state till 10.30 am on Thursday, taking the total cases in the state to 56,708, the state health department said.
