The growth rate of COVID-19 infection in Delhi is decreasing with over 12,436 beds remaining vacant at COVID designated facilities. Meanwhile, Bihar received 430 oxygen concentrators from the centre, which converts atmospheric air to therapeutic oxygen, to treat COVID-19 patients.

Hyderabad:With a single-day increase of 47,703 COVID-19 cases, India''s virus tally mounted to 14,83,156 on Wednesday, while the recoveries surged to 9,52,743, according to the Union Health Ministry data. As cases continue to mount, here is a round-up of all important COVID news from across the country.

Jharkhand

The state's first plasma donation centre has started functioning at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). The institute was launched by Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Health Minister Banna Gupta. The centre was started with an aim to promote plasma therapy in treating COVID-19 patients in the state.

The growth rate of the infection in the state is 6.1 per cent.

Rajasthan

In the desert state, Jodhpur is witnessing a steady rise in the number of infections. In order to counter this rise, the state administration is gearing up to implement a different approach: cluster-based testing.

According to government health bulletin, in the last 13 days, the number of fresh cases has increased steadily in Jodhpur and Alwar. The state has over 9,997 active cases.

Bihar

With the government increasing the testing capabilities, the growth rate of infection has also increased to 8%, with the rate touching 8.52% at the time of writing. The state's capital, Patna, remains the worst affected with total cases crossing 7,000. More than 500 new COVID-19 cases are being reported from Patna on a daily basis.

In some positive news, Bihar received 430 oxygen concentrators, which converts atmospheric air to therapeutic oxygen, to treat COVID-19 patients. State Health Minister Mangal Pandey said that 320 more oxygen contractors will arrive soon.

As the machine obviates the need for transportation and refilling of heavy oxygen cylinders, they can be placed in wards where patients are provided care.

Delhi

The state recorded 1,056 fresh coronavirus infections on Tuesday, taking the tally to over 1.32 lakh, while the death toll from the disease climbed to 3,881. The active caseload stood at 10,887, down from 10,994 the previous day.

However, even with the decreasing rate of infection spread, the number of containment zones is increasing with the number touching 716 today.

Besides, out of the total 15,475 beds in COVID designated facilities, over 12,436 remain vacant, underlying the slower growth rate of infection in the national capital.
