Hyderabad:As the number of coronavirus cases continues to increase in the country, it is imperative to think that health infrastructure has become overwhelmed, even with recovery rate remaining high and the mortality rate remaining low, when compared to other countries. This is the 121st day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown, to curb the novel coronavirus pandemic and the total number of COVID-19 cases has crossed grim 12 lakh-mark.

Rajasthan

In the desert state, Jodhpur is witnessing a steady rise in the number of infections. In order to counter this rise, the state administration is gearing up to implement a different approach: the Ramganj model.

The Bhilwara Model, which drew laurels across the globe, lost its ground in Jodhpur with COVID-19 numbers swelling each day. Bhilwara Model, which focused on ruthless containment, needed to be tweaked in the congested lanes of Jodhpur as its demographic and socio-economic conditions are different.

The Ramganj model is based on cluster-based testing with Bhilwara model as a base. The ramping up of diagnostic samples is done to check the community spread. Local MLAs and religious leaders will be roped in to convince Jodhpur community members to cooperate with healthcare workers.

State health minister Raghu Sharma said that tocilizumab injection has also proved effective on patients recently and will be used in treatment.

Madhya Pradesh

Arvind Bhadoria, a cabinet minister of the MP government, was admitted to the Chirayu Medical College and Hospital in Bhopal after he tested positive for COVID-19. The BJP Minister had attended a cabinet meeting the day before where ministers Hardeep Singh Dang and OP Saklecha were seated beside him. Bhadoria also attended the last rites ceremony of Governor Lalji Tandon.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and several other dignitaries were also present at the funeral.

Delhi

The COVID-19 tally in Delhi rose to 1,27,364 with 1,041 fresh cases, while the death toll mounted to 3,745, authorities said. Twenty-six coronavirus-related fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the Delhi Health Department bulletin on Thursday.

From July 11 to 19, fresh cases were reported in the range of 1,000-2,000 daily. On July 19, 1,211 fresh cases were reported. The number of active cases on Thursday stood at 14,554, a marginal decline from 14,594, the previous day. On June 23, the national capital had reported the highest single-day spike of 3,947 new cases.

Bihar

Janata Dal (United) leader Bindi Yadav has succumbed to COVID-19 infection in Bihar. Bindi Yadav is the husband of JDU MLC Manorama Devi. The state has registered testing ratio at 3423 per million population, while the mortality rate stands at 0.69 %.

Bihar till date registered 30,369 COVID positive cases out of which 10,506 cases are still active. As many as 217 people have died due to Covid-19.
