Hyderabad:India's coronavirus tally surged to over 10.77 lakh as the country reported over 38,000 COVID-19 cases for the first time in a single day. The country on Sunday registered a spike of 38,902 cases which took India's coronavirus caseload to 10,77,618.
This was the fourth consecutive day when the number of cases increased by more than 30,000. The tally of the death toll stands at 26,816.
Meanwhile, experts have said that coronavirus cases may peak in India as early as mid-September provided strong public health measures are in place and people behave in a responsible manner to contain the infection.
Delhi
New Delhi: Delhi added 1,211 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest count in over a month and 31 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the national capital’s coronavirus tally to 1,22,793, the state health department said on Sunday. The 31 new fatalities have taken the death toll to 3,628.
The number of positive cases in the national capital has declined sharply this week after the Delhi government adopted strict containment measures and ramped up testing for the infection in certain zones in July.
A day earlier, on Saturday, the national capital had reported 26 deaths, the lowest single-day COVID-19 fatality count since June 9.
Bihar
Patna: A three-member central team on Sunday visited Bihar to assess the COVID-19 situation. The three-member team led by Joint Secretary in Health and Family Welfare Ministry Luv Agarwal held discussions with the chief secretary and top health officials of the state government on various aspects of COVID situation and provided necessary support and guidance to the health authorities in the state.
