Hyderabad:With 18,522 people testing positive for COVID-19 in a single day, India's case count reached 5,66,840 on Tuesday while the death toll rose to 16,893 with 418 new fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

The number of active cases stands at 2,15,125, while 3,34,821 people have recovered, and one patient has migrated, according to the updated data at 8 am on Tuesday.

Delhi

Amid a surge in the cases, the national capital has ramped up testing and is also in the middle of conducting a serological survey to assess the spread of infection in the population. The state government is also readying a 500-bed COVID-19 care centre at the Commonwealth Games Village (CWG) in East Delhi.

The centre at CWG village will be operated by a volunteer group of doctors called Doctors For You (DFY).

Dr Rajat Jain, Chairman of DFY in conversation with ETV Bharat said that CCTV cameras will monitor every movement and oximeter will assess the oxygen levels of every patient. According to Dr Jain, 100-150 beds will be operational by next week.

Madhya Pradesh

The state government will launch a ''Kill Corona'' campaign from tomorrow to control the spread of COVID-19 in the state. During the 15-day campaign, 2.5 lakh tests will be carried out and 15,000 to 20,000 samples would be collected daily.

Under the campaign, the door-to-door survey will be conducted and tests would also be done on citizens for other diseases.

Uttar Pradesh

The state reported 25 COVID-19 deaths, taking their number to 697 as 664 new cases of the infection pushed the state's tally to 23,492.

Briefing reporters here, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical and Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said, "So far, 697 COVID-19 patients have died in the state. The count of active COVID-19 cases stands at 6,711."

As many as 16,084 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease and have been discharged, he added. The recovery percentage in the state has increased to 68.46.

Jharkhand

WABCO India Limited has built a mobile COVID-19 testing van in Seraikela district. The lab is capable of producing results within 30 minutes. It has been developed in accordance with the guidelines given by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). A total of 400 samples can be tested using this facility.

Bihar

According to reports, the states largest wholesale medicine market in Patna is slated to remain shut for over three days, after two shop owners tested positive. Earlier, a medical representative working in close quarters had also died to the infection.

Uttarakhand

Two more coronavirus patient died in Uttarakhand as the state's pandemic tally rose to 2,881 with 51 new infections, a Health Department bulletin said. As many as 2,258 virus patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
