Ludhiana: With a lockdown being imposed across India due to the rise in COVID-19 infections, a middle-aged man was forced to walk nearly 12 kilometres while carrying his wife -- who has a fractured leg -- on a bicycle to reach their native village Kanganwal in Ludhiana district of Punjab.

Dev Dutt carries his wife with fractured leg from his native village Kanganwal in Ludhiana district, Punjab.

Dissatisfied with the services of a government hospital in Bharatpur area, Dev Dutt decided to take his wife to his native village.

With no means of transportation available and no money to book an ambulance, Dutt made his wife sit on his bicycle and tied his wife's fractured leg next to the seat as he walked along side her all the way to Kanganwal.

"I am taking her on my bicycle because I don't own any other means of transportation. I asked the company (the firm where his wife is employed) for help, but I was told that there are no drivers at the factory amid the coronavirus outbreak," said Dutt.

His wife, who works in a manufacturing plant in Bharatpur, suffered a leg injury on March 30, following which she was admitted to a government hospital by her employer.
