Gadag (Karnataka):The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown in the country has helped a mother in Gadag district of Karnataka to reunite with her son who had gone missing 22 years ago.

Aadam Malik Saaba, son of Malik Saaba Baagavana of Gogeri Village in Gajendragad Taluk, returned home after he lost his job at a hotel in Solapur during the lockdown.

Disappointed after being not able to find a new job, Aadam decided to make his way back to home in Gadag. The parents of Aadam Malik Saaba and Badima shared their joy of reuniting with the son who they had not expected to see again.

Malik Saaba and Badima have four sons and six daughters.

Since the financial background of his family was not very sound, Aadam was forced to join his brother in Pune to find a job after completing high school education.

Later in 1998, Aadam went missing during a trip to Mumbai with friends. Aadam's parents searched for him in Pune and Mumbai for over six years after he went missing, only to be disappointed. Since then Badima had been waiting for Aadam's return.

About six months ago, Badima had told everyone in the family that Aadam would come back and a share of the family property should be given to him. Her words have finally come true.

Aadam's parents recognised him by confirming the body marks on his hand, a finger and on his right leg.

Aadam upon returning to his village went to the house where the family had lived earlier and inquired his parents' whereabouts to the villagers. Later, his brother-in-law received information about his return and brought him home. Currently, Aadam is quarantined in his home.
