Indian Army shuts canteens, to home-deliver essential items
After lockdown in 80 districts across the country, the Indian Army on Monday has closed its canteen stores and decided to provide home delivery of grocery and essential items.

Assam will be under lockdown from 6 pm on Tuesday till March 31 in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Sarma said essential services like pharmacies, medical, water supply, banking, and petrol pumps would be exempted from the purview of the lockdown.
The state border will be sealed and no vehicles, barring those on essential duties, will be allowed, the minister added.

Chhattisgarh govt suspends public transport
The Chhattisgarh government on Monday ordered suspension of public and private buses, auto and e-rickshaws and taxis with immediate effect.
A letter announcing this was sent by state Transport Commissioner Kamalpreet Singh, an official statement here said.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday evening announced a lockdown in urban areas in 28 districts till March 31, during which only those sectors dealing with essential services will be allowed to remain open.

Commuters on Monday faced a lot of problems in travelling as public transport services, excluding 25 per cent Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses, are shut down in the national capital.
A man, named Chaman Lal at Palika Kendra bus stop said: "I am waiting for the bus. My office is closed so I am going home. There are fewer number of buses on roads today."
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the closure of metro train services till March 31 and only 25 per cent of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses will hit the roads.
No other modes of public transport including private buses, taxis, auto-rickshaws, rickshaws, and e-rickshaws shall be permitted during the lockdown period.

The Haryana district administration claimed that there were few instances of violations of the lockdown imposed by the Manohar Lal Khattar-government in the state to help contain the spread of coronavirus.

Priest arrested for conducting mass defying govt order, case against 100-odd faithful

SIAM, ACMA ask automakers, auto component manufacturers to shut their plants
Automobile makers and auto component manufacturers in India have been asked to shut their plants by their respective industry bodies in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
In view of the deteriorating situation arising out of COVID-19, SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) and ACMA (Auto Component Manufacturers Association of India) have both requested their members to consider plant shut down.
The members of SIAM and ACMA both in original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and auto component industry have been asked to consider plant shut down for a limited time to overcome the critical period so that workers are not exposed to the virus, SIAM President Rajan Wadhera said in a statement.

Coronavirus: Sec 144 imposed in Varanasi, only essential services allowed
Keeping in line with the Centre's directives of lockdown in districts which have confirmed cases of coronavirus across the country, the administration in Varanasi has ordered special restrictions under Section 144 in the region from March 23.
The imposition of Section 144 disallows the assembly of five or more people at a place.
Apart from emergency services, plying of the buses too has been suspended for the duration of the order which will remain in effect until March 25.
Emergency and essential services such as the delivery of milk, rations, logistics, samples of pathology labs have been exempted from the border restrictions, among other activities, similarly, shops selling essential commodities have also been allowed to stay open while all other commercial establishments, shops, educational institutes, restaurants, hotels will remain closed during the entire duration.
The restrictions will, however, not apply to the health department and facilities, security personnel, judicial reform services, water department, and emergency services.

SDRF teams to sanitise 8 UP districts with COVID-19 cases
Eight teams with 30 trained personnel each have been sent by the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) to districts that have reported coronavirus cases.
Yashvir Singh, the SDRF commandant said, "A team of doctors and experts with trained 240 personnel will sanitise environment and spread awareness among people on how to save themselves from contracting the virus infection."
The teams have been sent to Gautam Buddha Nagar, Meerut, Agra, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Prayagraj districts.
