Reliance opens up India's first dedicated COVID-19 facility

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) on Monday announced it has set up India's first dedicated COVID-10 hospital with 100-bed capacity in a short span of just two weeks.

Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital in collaboration with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has set up the COVID-19 facility at Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai, the company said in a statement.

Funded by Reliance Foundation, the COVID-19 facility includes a negative pressure room that helps in preventing cross contamination and helps control infection.

All beds are equipped with the required infrastructure, bio-medical equipments such as ventilators, pacemakers, dialysis machine and patient monitoring devices.

The foundation has also offered to set up special medical facilities to quarantine travellers from notified countries and suspected cases through contact tracing to quickly augment additional facilities for isolation and treatment of infected patients.

RIL has also built a fully-equipped isolation facility in Lodhivali, Maharashtra.

Elderly COVID stricken man dies in Bengal

An elderly man infected with the coronavirus died in a Kolkata hospital on Monday, the first death recorded in West Bengal due to the contagion, hospital sources said.

The deceased was aged 57 years and was a resident of Dumdum in the North 24 Parganas district. He died at a private hospital.

He was in the hospital since February 16 and was on ventilator support. He had no recent history of travelling abroad but had visited Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh his February.

"The man had acute respiratory distress syndrome. We had taken proper protective measures but he died this afternoon," a spokesperson for the hospital said.

His family members are under observation in an isolation ward at a state-run hospital, state government officials said.

Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has written a letter to Lt. Governor G.C. Murmu demanding the release of Kashmiri prisoners in jails across the country.

"As you're aware, thousands of Kashmiris. including my mother Ms. Mufti, ex-Chief Minister J&K have been jailed since 5th August. As the world prepares to battle the deadly COVID-19 (already declared a global pandemic by WHO), India in all likelihood has entered Stage 3 in which the virus spreads through community transmission.

Chandigarh: 21-year-old man tests positive for coronavirus; total cases rise to 7

A 21-year-old man tested positive for coronavirus here on Monday, taking the total number of positive cases to seven in the city, officials said.

"A 21 year-old male resident of Chandigarh (contact of positive Covid-19 case) has turned out to be positive for Covid-19," said an official statement of the Chandigarh administration.

He came in contact with the brother of a 23-year-old woman, who was the city's first coronavirus patient, official said.

He was admitted to government hospital in Sector 32 here.

Swab and blood samples of two persons from Arunachal Pradesh suspected to be infected with novel coronavirus tested negative for the disease, a senior

health official said on Monday.

The samples were sent for tests to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital and the Regional Medical Research Centre at Dibrugarh in Assam, he said.

Ernakulam Medical College in Kerala to be transformed into COVID-19 treatment center

The Ernakulam Medical College in Kalamassery is going to be transformed into a full-fledged coronavirus treatment centre.

From now on, only the emergency Out Patient (OP) wing and dialysis unit will work at the hospital.

Women and children undergoing treatment in the OP section at the hospital will be shifted to the nearest government health center.

The district is currently giving treatment for 12 COVID-19 patients. The district has 23 persons in Isolation Wards and 3961 persons in homes under surveillance.

New Delhi: A total of 113 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours in different parts of Delhi out of which 23 were found to be COVID-19 positive.

Delhi will be locked down from 6 am on March 23, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Sunday, saying 'extraordinary measures' are required to contain the spread of the new coronavirus after six locally transmitted cases surfaced in the national capital.The lockdown will continue till midnight on March 31, Kejriwal said at a joint press conference with Lt Governor Anil Baijal.

89 positive cases in Maharashtra so far

Jaipur:The total positive cases of coronavirus in the state has reached 28 on Sunday, said Rohit Kumar Singh Additional Chief Secretary.

Singh said, "Three new persons were tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday, one each from Bhilwara, Jhunjhunu and Jodhpur. Total positive cases in the state so far are 28 out of them, three have been cured."

The total samples collected in Jhunjhnu are 50 and positive cases there are four. In Bhilwara, total samples taken are 69, and positive cases are 13, Singh said.

Earlier, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had ordered a total lockdown in the state till March 31, barring essential services, amid increasing coronavirus cases in the country.
