The novel coronavirus claimed three more lives in West Bengal in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities to 10, Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha said on Thursday.

Twenty four new cases of COVID-19 were reported from the state during the period, he said.

The total number of cases in West Bengal now stands at 188, while the Union Health Ministry has put the figure at 231.

Kerala records seven new Covid-19 cases, 147 under treatment

Kerala On Thursday reported seven new coronavirus positive case in the past 24 hours, and the total number of people currently under treatment is 147, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.

The cumulative number of cases, including those cured, is 394.

"We are doing well in bringing down the number of cases because of the strong vigil," said Vijayan, adding that there are 88,323 people under observation at homes and 532 at various hospitals in the state.

The Kerala Police on Thursday registered 2,941 cases, arresting 2,863 people and impounding 2,048 vehicles for breaking curfew norms.

9 fresh cases reported in Andhra Pradesh in 14 hours

9 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in Andhra Pradesh, taking the total to 534.

The number of active cases now stood at exactly 500 after 20 patients were discharged and another 14 have died, according to the latest government bulletin.

Three cases each were added in Kurnool, West Godavari and Krishna districts since 7 pm on Wednesday.

With 122, Guntur district tops the state chart while Kurnool is close behind with 113 cases.

With the most number of Tablighi Jamaat attendees and their contacts, these two districts are the major hotbeds of COVID-19 in the state.

Nine other districts have also been classified as hotspots while the remaining two-Srikakulam and Vizianagaram- are the only coronavirus-free districts in AP so far.

A COVID-19 patient from Odishas Sundergarh district has recovered and will soon be discharged from the hospital, the state government said.

A 67-year-old man and an 18-year-old boy from the Bisra area in Sundergarh district had tested positive for the virus and were admitted to the Hi-Tech COVID Hospital in Rourkela.

While the elderly man had attended a religious congregation organised by the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi's Nizamuddin last month, the teenager was infected after coming in contact with him.

66-yr-old man dies in Bengaluru, total 13 dead in Karnataka

A 66-year old man from the city, became the thirteenth COVID-19 related fatality in Karnataka, Health Department officials said on Thursday.

The elderly patient from Bengaluru, who was coronavirus positive died on April 15 at Victoria Hospital in the city, officials said.

"He was referred from a private hospital and was admitted in Victoria Hospital and was on ventilator support since April 10," they added.

25 fresh cases reported in Rajasthan, total number stands at 1101

Rajasthan on Thursday reported 25 fresh cases of coronavirus, taking the state's virus tally to 1,101, officials said.

Of the new cases, 11 are from Tonk, 10 from Jodhpur, 2 from Jhunjhunu and one each from Bikaner and Ajmer.

With the new 25 cases, the number of positive cases in the state has gone up to 1,101, they said.

A total of 37,860 samples have been collected in the state so far. 1,101 were positive and 31,902 were negative while 4,857 samples are under processing.

As many as 157 patients have been cured so far and 82 of them discharged.

Two more test positive for COVID-19 in Bihar, number rises to 72

Two more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Bihar, raising the total number of cases in the state to 72, a top official said on Thursday.

The fresh cases were reported from Patna and Vaishali districts, he said.

Reports of a 60-year-old man from Patna and 35-year-old man from Vaishali, which came in late Wednesday night, were positive, according to Principal Secretary, Health, Sanjay Kumar.

The Patna patient had come in contact with a Dubai-returnee who had tested positive last month and discharged after recovery more than a week ago, the official said.

Contact tracing was on for the patient from Vaishali, which has reported its first coronavirus case, Kumar added.

Nineteen more COVID-19 cases have been reported from Agra, informed District Magistrate Prabhu N Singh on Thursday.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the district now stands at 167, he further informed.

Meanwhile, the total number of cases in India has now climbed to 12380.

Out of these cases, 1489 have been cured/discharged/migrated while 414 deaths have been reported so far, as per the latest data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

42 new COVID-19 cases in Indore; MP tally rises to 980

The total number of coronavirus cases in Madhya Pradesh rose to 980 with 42 more people testing positive for the disease in Indore, health officials said on Thursday.

Two more deaths were also reported from Indore late Wednesday night, taking the toll in the state to 55.

The viral infection has now spread in 26 out of total 52 districts in the state.

Agar Malwa and Alirajpur districts reported first coronavirus cases on Wednesday.

Indore has reported the highest 586 cases in the state so far, a health official said.

Of the total 55 deaths in the state, 39 have been reported from Indore.

Besides, five persons have so far died in Bhopal, six in Ujjain, three in Khargone and one each in Chhindwara and Dewas.

So far, 64 people in the state have recovered from the disease, the official said.

There are total 290 containment zones formed across various cities of the state.

Death toll due to COVID-19 touches 414; cases climb to 12,380

The death toll due to coronavirus rose to 414 and the number of cases to 12,380 in the country on Thursday, according to the Union Health Ministry.

While the number of active COVID-19 cases is 10,477, as many as 1,488 people have been cured and discharged and one had migrated, it said. 

The total number of cases include 76 foreign nationals.

Twenty-two deaths were reported since Wednesday evening, the ministry said in its updated data.

Nine fatalities were reported from Maharashtra, five from Andhra Pradesh, three from Gujarat, two each from Delhi and Tamil Nadu and one from Karnataka, it added.

Of the total 414 deaths, Maharashtra tops the tally with 187 fatalities, followed by Madhya Pradesh at 53, Gujarat at 33, Delhi at 32 and Telangana at 18.

Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have reported 14 fatalities each.

Punjab has reported 13 deaths while Karnataka have reported 12 deaths and Uttar Pradesh has 11 deaths.

West Bengal has registered seven deaths.

Four persons have lost their lives in Jammu and Kashmir while Kerala, Haryana and Rajasthan have recorded three deaths each. Jharkhand has reported two deaths.

Meghalaya, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Assam reported one fatality each, according to the health ministry data.

However, a tally of figures reported by various states as on Wednesday evening showed at least 12,220 COVID-19 cases and 417 deaths.

There has been a lag in the Union Health Ministry figures, compared to the number of deaths announced by different states, which officials attribute to procedural delays in assigning the cases to individual states.

According to the ministry's data updated in the morning, the highest number of confirmed cases in the country is from Maharashtra at 2,916, followed by Delhi at 1,578 and Tamil Nadu at 1,242.

COVID-19 cases have gone up to 1,023 in Rajasthan, followed by 987 in Madhya Pradesh, 766 in Gujarat and 735 in Uttar Pradesh.

Telangana has 647 cases, Andhra Pradesh 525 and Kerala 388.

The number of novel coronavirus cases has risen to 300 in Jammu and Kashmir, 279 in Karnataka, 231 in West Bengal and 205 in Haryana. Punjab has reported 186 infections so far.

Bihar has reported 70 cases, while Odisha has 60 coronavirus cases. Thirty-seven people were infected with the virus in Uttarakhand, while Himachal Pradesh has 35 cases. Assam and Chhattisgarh have registered 33 cases each.

Jharkhand has 28 cases, Chandigarh 21 cases and Ladakh 17.

Eleven cases have been reported from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Meghalaya, Goa and Puducherry have reported seven COVID-19 infections each. Manipur and Tripura have two cases each, while Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh have reported a case each.

"State-wise distribution is subject to further verification and reconciliation," the ministry said on its website.

The website also said a COVID-19 patient from Nagaland has been shifted to Assam.
